Una testimonianza può descriverti la traiettoria, facendo perno sugli oggetti al suolo e su se stessi. Ma riguardo alla velocità assolute, le testimonianze sono attendibili davvero poco o niente.

Un passaggio a bassissima quota risulta spesso in una percezione di altissima velocità per il fenomeno della parallasse di moto in relazione alla enorme mole dell'aeromobile.

Così come il passaggio ufficiale risulta in un parallasse di moto lineare della durata di 2 secondi, mai descritto da nessun testimone della NOC.

I testmoni della NOC, quelli con la maggiore opportunità di osservare (rapporto fra posizione personale e oggetto avvistato), descrivono una quantità tale di manovre da non poter dare credito a velocità altissime. E non solo. Taluni di questi testimoni, compreso Boger, descrivono un avvicinamento che si è compiuto in moltissimi secondi - in opposizione con la velocità ufficiale che descrive il transito dalla navy al pentagono in 4 secondi circa.

Dunque, perché trovi impossibile una manovra prossima allo stallo controllato per poi dare una botta di throttle per recuperare l'aereo e schiantarsi o fuggire via?

E' un ipotesi, ma non puoi confutarla con nulla. Tantomeno con le testimonianze:

Darrell Stafford:

By then it was fastly approaching, it was quiet, I couldn't hear it. [30]

Traduzione: In quel momento si stava avvicinando velocemente, non faceva rumore però, non potevo sentirlo.

Donald Carter:

Q: You were saying that when the plane was over the Navy Annex it was quiet at first, the engines were shut off?
Carter: Yes, and then he shifted, his wings shifted like he got off course and then it revved and then went full in.
Q: But you said it was almost quiet...
Carter: Yes, [...] it kinda glided, and then all of a sudden the engines revved and went full in. [31]
