Relatively non-toxic when used appropriately. May become toxic at the wrong doseshttp://www.dca.med.ualberta.ca/Home/FAQS/ (nota che questo è il sito dedicato al DCA dell'Università di Alberta, non un sito qualsiasi) Questo invece è uno studio intitolato "The pharmacology of dichloroacetate", pubblicato su Pubmed: DCA appears to inhibit its own metabolism, which may influence the duration of its pharmacologic actions and lead to toxicity. DCA can cause a reversible peripheral neuropathy that may be related to thiamine deficiency and may be ameliorated or prevented with thiamine supplementation. Other toxic effects of DCA may be species-specific and reflect marked interspecies variation in pharmacokinetics. Despite its potential toxicity and limited clinical experience, DCA and its derivatives may prove to be useful in probing regulatory aspects of intermediary metabolism and in the acute or chronic treatment of several metabolic disorders.http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2554095Infine un altro importante contributo: Question: Is DCA toxic? Answer: Researchers at the University of Alberta have reported that DCA is relatively non-toxic, since it has already been used as a medicine on adults and children to treat metabolic disease, and for hypertension. It has been known to have some mild side effects in a minority of patients and they include a change in gait, some nerve problems, but both of these symptoms appear to be reversible upon cessation of DCA. This is certainly in positive contract to most of the poisons being administered today as "chemo", including IL-2 (requires on week in ICU, Interferon, and DTIC.http://www.thedcasite.com/dca_faqs.html
